Michelle is the lead teacher at our learning center, bringing years of experience and a deep passion for education. She grew up in Taiwan and earned her degree from National Chengchi University in Taipei. In Taiwan, she spent five years teaching Computer Science and Business at the high school level before pursuing further studies in the United States.
In 1999, Michelle moved to Southern California to study Computer Science, earning her Master’s degree in 2001. After getting married, she dedicated 13 years to homeschooling her children, gaining firsthand experience in the challenges students face with math and foreign languages. Inspired by her teaching journey, she founded Learning Horizon to share her expertise in mathematics and Chinese.
Michelle specializes in teaching Chinese, Singapore Math, and Piano. She is also a Washington State-certified teacher in both Chinese and English Language Learning (ELL). With her diverse background and commitment to education, Michelle strives to empower students with strong academic foundations and a love for learning.
Nelson is our dedicated Math and Computer Programming tutor, guiding students from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus BC, as well as AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science.
He graduated from the University of Washington in 2024 with double majors in Computer Science & Engineering and Mathematics from the prestigious Allan School of Computer Science & Engineering and Math Department. Currently, he is furthering his expertise through a Master in Teaching program.
Nelson has a strong background in competitive mathematics, earning recognition in prestigious competitions such as:

In addition to his achievements in math, Nelson has excelled in coding competitions, earning multiple medals in events such as:

With his extensive knowledge and competition experience, Nelson brings a passion for teaching and problem-solving, helping students excel in math and programming.
Grace is a talented pianist and songwriter with a deep passion for music. With 14 years of piano experience, she began sharing her expertise as a teacher five years ago, inspiring students with her skill and creativity.

Currently, Grace is pursuing a music degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She offers in-person lessons at our center during the summer and virtual lessons throughout the school year.
